Easter Chicks

Reception class have been deepening their understanding of new life as part of their Growing and Changing theme this half-term. We took delivery of some eggs and watched them eagerly for a few days in the incubator. Eventually, the eggs began to rock and we could hear cheeping from inside. The next morning, when the children came into class, there were three little chicks ready to say hello to the children! As the day progressed, more eggs hatched. Being able to observe this really was a magical experience for the children. Once the chicks were fluffy and dry, they were moved into a box with a heat lamp. The children loved observing the changes in the appearance of the chicks and noted how quickly the feathers develop on their wings. All the children had the chance to hold a chick and have their photograph taken!
