We get up to all sorts of amazing things here at St. Louis Academy. Click one of our recent learning adventures below to read it in full.
This week Elm Class have been learning about the seven continents of the world. We also ‘travelled’ around the world using Google Earth to visit famous landmarks.
Since being back at school, Elm Class, have loved carrying out the Daily Mile. The children have been completing as many laps as they can within 10 minutes.
Elm Class were inspired by our current literacy text, Gregory Cool, to write kennings poems about the sea. We listened to sounds, watched a video of the waves lapping against the shore, and looked at paintings to inspire us.
In our topic lessons, Elm Class have been studying natural disasters such as volcanoes and Earthquakes. We learned what to do in the event of an earthquake and practised following these guidelines when we heard the alarm sound!
In Art this week, we looked at the work of Henri Matisse and were really inspired by his paper cutting. We had a go ourselves by listening to Jazz music, watching some classmates dance and then making a collage from our paper cuttings.
On Wednesday we decorated the classroom with reindeer's, snowflakes and Christmas paper chains.
