St. Louis Academy
The school was founded in 1937 by the Sisters of St. Louis on the principle of showing respect for the uniqueness of each child, and that principle prevails today. Our school is a thriving Christian community where our children are central to everything that we do. It is a place of love and laughter where adults and children enjoy working together to achieve their full potential.
We are the parish school of Our Lady Immaculate and St Etheldreda in Newmarket and the school is very much part of parish life. The children visit the church many times throughout the year and our Parish Priest, Father Simon, is a regular visitor to our school.
St Louis takes children from the age of three to eleven. Children can start in our Nursery in the September after their third birthday and most do. We try to make learning fun for all the children in the school and we tailor the curriculum to their interests and prior knowledge. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that the children thrive in their care.
We expect high standards of them all and whatever their talents they are expected to ‘be the best they can be’. We see it as our responsibility to prepare children for all aspects of life and forming good relationships with others is central to this. If you visit our school you will find children who are self –confident, well behaved and able to work together. They are interested in their learning, willing to take risks and ask questions and keen to do well.
Our parents are a very important part of our school community. We believe that children learn best when parents and teachers work in partnership. In addition to reports and parents evenings, parents are welcome to discuss any aspect of their child’s school life with their teachers at any time throughout the year. Parents are welcome to come into school to support the children’s learning.
Parents also take responsibility for many of the social aspects of school life including events to raise funds for the school to purchase play equipment and provide extra-curricular opportunities for the children including the annual pantomime which is enjoyed by all the children. Parental involvement at St. Louis is rich and the children benefit in many ways as a result.
I hope that you will find all the information that you need on our website. If you would like to visit the school you will be made very welcome.
