St. Louis Academy
Welcome to St Louis Catholic Academy.
Our school was founded in 1937 by the Sisters of St Louis on the principle of showing respect for the uniqueness of each child, and that principle continues today. Our school is a thriving Catholic community where our children are at the heart of everything that we do. We benefit from being part of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Multi Academy Trust and we share their commitment to put Christ at the centre of all we do and children are at the heart of everything. At St Louis we seek to learn to love and love to learn.
We are the parish school of Our Lady Immaculate and St Etheldreda in Newmarket and the school is very much part of parish life. Usually our children make frequent visits to church throughout the year and our Parish Priest, Father Christopher, is a regular visitor to our school. At present, we have adapted our prayer life in response to the Covid pandemic. However, prayer continues to form a central daily part of our school life.
St Louis takes children from the age of three to eleven. Children join us in our Nursery in the September after their third birthday. We aim to make learning enjoyable and exciting for all our children and we develop the curriculum to be stimulating and challenging . Our staff are dedicated to ensuring that the children thrive in their care.
We believe that we should prepare children for all aspects of life and forming good relationships with others is central to this. As a Catholic school, we teach the Gospel values that shape how children become considerate and caring of one another. If you visit our school you will find children who are self –confident, respectful towards one another and the many adults who support their learning. We teach and model teamwork and collaboration in all that we do. We aim for school leaders to be thoughtful, generous and independent learners as they transition to secondary school.
Our parents are a very important part of our school community. We believe that children learn best when parents and teachers work in partnership. Parents are welcome to discuss children’s learning at any time and when we are able to open up to visitors in future, we hope to see our family and community in our school once more.
We have a wonderful Friends of St Louis Group who contribute to the ongoing improvement of our school. Parental support at St. Louis is valuable to us and the children benefit in so many ways as a result.
If you would like to find out more about our wonderful school, you will be warmly welcomed.
