Why do we need to wash our hands?

Recently we have been thinking about what we need to do to keep ourselves healthy. To help the children understand the importance of washing their hands we have carried out an experiment using some bread. One slice of bread was handled while wearing surgical gloves and the other slice of bread was handled by three different people (two were a little poorly and had a little cough on the bread). We asked the children what they thought might happen to the slices of bread and here are some of their thoughts…“The one with gloves will stay good. It’s going to stay the same” “One is going to go mouldy with no gloves. It will go green” “It will go green and blobby” We will keep you updated with what happens to the bread!

Our school is a thriving Christian community where our children are central to everything that we do. Adults and children enjoy working together to achieve their full potential.
