We have been very busy in Cherry and Holly class. The children have been interested in linking cubes and seeing how tall they can build a tower. The children needed the help of Mrs Bryan to hold it because the tower was so tall! Having made incredibly tall towers the children then started to explore linking the cubes to measure the length of Cherry class, through the door and into Holly class. A good introduction to shape, space and measure in our first few weeks together!
In our Design and Technology lessons with Mrs Baldwin the children have been learning about collage. We looked at the work of Andy Warhol and created our own Pop Art Portraits by gluing tissue paper to a photograph of our self. They look really effective and some are on display in the corridor outside Cherry class so keep an eye out for them when you come for parents evening. We also learnt about the work of sculptor Andy Goldsworthy and created our own work in response to this using natural objects.
And we have also been celebrating Harvest Festival by making bread rolls. The children enjoyed kneading the dough and manipulating it into a ball ready to go in the oven and of course, they then enjoyed eating the warm bread rolls. Yummy seemed to be the favoured word to describe the taste of the bread rolls.
