Post number one which has been stuck in cyber-space for several months…
What a busy week! London on Tuesday, fizzing experiments on Wednesday, Mass on Friday… it’s all go!
We had a wonderful day out to the Tower of London: the sun was shining, the ravens were flying free and the Year 5 bus even chose to break down in a convenient location! We reenacted the Battle of Hastings (rather enthusiastically!), found the original crown jewels (unfortunately the queue was around the block for the current ones), marched like the guards, roared like the ‘dragon’ on the top floor, tried on helmets, pretended we were locked in cages, spoke to a ‘nun’ who was locked up in the tower, wandered through the torture chamber and aimed bows and arrows…
Wednesday’s Science saw us exploring reversible and irreversible changes in Science, which culminated in mixing vinegar with bicarbonate of soda and watching as the balloon inflated with carbon dioxide… will it fly off was the question!
Mass on Friday with our new priest (Fr Christopher) was a wonderful occasion to peacefully reflect on the week: the children sang beautifully and Fr Christopher praised them on their ‘impeccable behaviour’ and reverent attitude during Mass. What a great start to his time with us as a school!
